Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How do I get started?

Answer: Start by assessing your needs. What room would you like to start in? Do you need privacy, light control, or just to add color and style to your room? Do you want to work with an interior designer or do you know what you like and feel confident selecting your own fabrics?

Once you have begun to think about these questions give me a call or send an email. We can decide together what the next step is. For a simple job I may be able to give you a quote and yardages over the phone so that when we meet you have your fabric and are ready to place your order. For a more complex job we may decide on an in home consultation so that I can measure for your window treatments and bedding personally and help you decide what treatments would work best for your room and lifestyle.

Q: Do I need a designer?

A: I work with both interior designers and directly with clients. It really depends on your needs. If you want help with paint colors and furniture selection and placement you need a designer. If you need help designing your window treatments and selecting fabrics you may not need a designer. I have been in the business for seventeen years and have background in art. I can get a sense of your personal style as well as your practical needs and help you design the right treatments and bedding for you. Years of sewing experience also allow me to give very accurate yardages and to guide you to the fabrics and trims that will work the best in each unique situation.

Q: Can you recommend a designer?

A: I work with several designers, each with their own style. If you tell me which of the rooms in my photos that appeal to you, I may be able to help direct you to the interior designer that is right for you.

Q: Do you sell fabric or do I bring my own?

A: Most of my clients shop for their own fabrics. This part of North Carolina has many great fabric stores with large selections, skilled sales staffs, and reasonable prices. If you don’t know where to start, I can recommend fabric stores in the area. Some people, however, don’t want to shop for their own fabric. For these people I do carry some lines of fabric or can do the shopping for you.

Q: Do I need to supply my own lining?

A: In most cases I prefer to supply the lining. There are many types of lining, interlining, blackout lining, and thermal lining available. I can provide any of these at the same price as the retail stores. With so many variations in fiber content and quality I prefer to work with the high quality linings I am accustomed to.
